Happy Birthday Greetings!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today on the Globecraft and Piccolo Blog I share a birthday card with a mixed enamel background. I began with a piece of mixed media paper [it's heavier and works well with building layers of emboss enamel--it does not buckle like lighter card stocks  can do]. I rubbed Enamel Powder Adhesive Fluid all over the piece of Mixed Media Paper and sprinkled on a layer of Enamel Powder STARRY SKY. While the Starry Sky was still molten, I add in a pinch or two of Enamel Powder AGED WHITE and a bit of Enamel Powder GIRLS NIGHT OUT. I set this aside to cool.
I moistened my Happy Birthday stamp with the Adhesive Fluid and stamped my Mixed Media Paper by laying the paper on top of the stamp and rubbing gently. I sprinkled the stamped image with Girls Night Out and heat set the powder. Once cool I brushed 3D Enamel Gel SATIN SILVER picking up bits of glitter in the enamel. The gel acts like a glue adhering the loose pieces down. I like the effect of the black glitter in the open areas of the sentiment. The silver is not too opaque and gives a translucent feel to the sentiment.
The card was finished off by tying some string around the sentiment and layering some silk ribbon below the sentiment.

Buzzing by to say Hello

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today on the Cheery Lynn Blog I share a sweet little friendship card to say "hello" to someone dear to you. I've used the new Branch set with the Tiny Flower Kit to create a blooming tree. I've used the striped bra overlay to create a BEE HIVE!!! I love these overlays as they have the potential to be some many other things!!!  I finished off the card with a fun little bee, some glittery flower centers,  and the Hello Sentiment!

Never Give Up!

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today on the Globecraft and Piccolo Blog I share with you a card that would be great for a graduation or any other note for some accomplishments. I love the sentiment "The impossible is often the untried." This card is LAYERED with yummy emboss powders for a masculine steampunky grungy feel.

The front of the card is created using a gear stencil...I applied Enamel Powder Adhesive over the stencil and dusted with Real Rust powder. I heat set the powder and then edged the card stock with the adhesive making wider patches in places. Mermaid Tears was layered on top, leaving translucent patches on the stenciled background. I love the chunky glitter in Mermaid Tears and it's translucency--you can see the background through the emboss enamel.

The focal piece was created by stamping the sentiment and embossing it with Micro Black first and then masking the sentiment to stamp the rest of the images. That was also dusted with Micro Black and heat set. The card was colored with watercolor washes and mounted on a piece of card stock edged with Victorian Bronze.

The inside of the card has a layered strip--edged with Victorian Bronze and a large panel stamped on the edge with brushes--and embossed with Victorian Bronze. This panel was also edged with the Mermaid Tears  to tie it into the front of the card. The focal panel was placed so that it extends over the edge of the shortened front and over the stamped side panel.

leslierahye's 3rd Annual Earth Day Blog Hop

Welcome to my 3rd Annual Earth Day Blog Hop! This is one of my passions...upcycling! On a daily basis I am looking for ways to renew-reuse-recycle the materials I come into contact with. I am constantly rescuing toilet paper rolls from their landfill destiny, rinsing out bottles and jars, folding up packing materials for my box of supplies and reclaiming envelopes for mini altered journals.

Upcycled Denim Baskets
These fun baskets were created simply by removing the bottom of blue jeans, sewing up the bottom, and adding trim to the folded cuff. I will add a small can on the inside of each to allow me to place pens, brushes, pencils in them--the can will keep the tools from leaking on the denim and keep them looking pretty longer!

so far this year!

Please take a moment to stop at the rest of the hops of this short hop today. Next time, before you discard something ask yourself, can this be renewed? can I reuse it? can it be unpcycled? because....

Steampunk Survivor Tag

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today on the Cheery Lynn Blog I share a Survivor tag Steampunk Style. I used the fabulous new steampunk corners along with the Survivor Bra set. The swirled overlays chalked with copper pan pastel looked steampunk-y to me! For this tag I die cut all elements in black card stock [some textured, some smooth] and dusted with metallic shades of pan pastel. I love the subtle metal tones this technique gives. White penwork highlights the die cuts and finishes off my tag!

leslierahye's Hippity Hoppity Steampunk Spring Blog Hop 2♥14

Welcome to leslierahye's Hippity Hoppity Steampunk Spring Blog Hop! I am leslierahye and in this hop we are celebrating Spring & Easter--Steampunk Style! I love Spring and all the holidays and am a huge fan of Steampunk. I have gathered together a group of awesome steampunk artists and am as excited to see their creations as I'm sure you are!!!  This is a one day hop. Below you will find links to everyone on the hop, you can start at the beginning and hop through in order. Be sure and check out all the stops as some have blog candy!!

For my project, I blew out a farm fresh egg and carved an opening in the egg. I tangled with a paint pen some groovy gears. On the inside of the egg I heat set copper emboss powder and layered in some mossy grass. I fashioned a little bunny with washers and wire. A crystal bead makes his red eye and a pompom his tail.I finished off my egg with watch parts along the opening. a larger washer on the bottom stabilizes the egg for sitting on a desktop.

Thank you for stopping by! Be sure to check out each of my talented friends!

Vintage Domed Photo Frame

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today on the Globecraft and Piccolo Blog I share with you a project that reminds me of the vintage photos with the domed glass. We received a bunch of photos from my husbands great-grandmother and several were in antique domed glass frames. They were simple amazing. When I saw this new kit in the Spring Release, I immediately knew I wanted to use a vintage photo of his great grandmother on her wedding day.

I began by printing the photo so that it fit in a 2¾×3¾" square--a little larger than the actual opening of the frame. I positioned the frame where I wanted it, traced around it and cut it out.

I adhered the photo down to the backing in the kit. I embossed the frame in Gilded Rose and the lacy overlay in Victorian Bronze. I brushed on Matte Glastique on the lacy overlay for a bit of contrast. I sandwiched the globe between the frame and the photo covered backing with Beacon 3&1. The lacy overlay was added with glastique.

Tip: I have found these aluminum roses at  my local jewelry and bead shop. They come in a variety of colors. I prefer to buy one kind and then use my emboss enamels to color them. In the above photo the one in the middle is the original unaltered rose. I tested different Emboss Powders on the roses [Mermaid Tears is on the left/ Aged White on the right] For my project I used the Gilded Rose. I used my piercing tool to hold the rose on the hole in the back. I heated the rose and dipped it into the preferred powder. I then melted the powder and set aside to cool. These become very hot so use tweezers or pliers to handle.

I hope you enjoyed my project! Thank you for stopping by today!
