Springtime Dream Big Tag

Happy Tuesday everyone!Today on the Cheery Lynn Blog I am sharing a spring tag! I love the colors purple and green together and with watercolor it has a wonderful spring feel. I used the Dutch Daisy Borders, Boutique stackers and doilies to complete this tag! All pieces started out as file folder and were hand water colored with greens and purples.

I began by cutting the border dies out of the bottom of the tag. I used the border edger and the negative space die from Border Set #2. The base was then watercolored with greens and spotted. The center of the Dutch Daisy Doily was used as a stencil to apply watercolor and ink in the corner.

Next a ½" strip of folder was colored green and placed the ribbon-like strip from the Border Set #1 on top--it was also cut from file folder and painter purple.  The sentiment square was colored green and the negative shape of the Dutch Daisy Doily was stenciled on there as well. The doily and the sentiment square were layered on the tag. Crystal Bling was added above the cut daisies and a dot for the "i" in  the word "big".

February Smeared Ink Member Blog Hop | Cracked and Broken

Good Morning Smeared and Smudged Family! This month I'm participating in the Cracked and Broken Members Blog Hop and I'm using this festive Behind Digital image. Intentional or not it reminded me of Mardi Gras and while a bit "behind" myself since the celebration was TUESDAY [lol] and still think of this Holy Week as one big celebration!I have chosen to color her in traditional Mardi Gras colors and create a fat book page to crack and embellish. I am using a technique of heating up a thick layer of clear embossing powder, allowing it to cool completely and then cracking it.

Instead of the traditional technique where the whole surface is cracked and then inked, I also embedded a purple webbing in the molten embossing powder. Because the webbing melts when heated, you can see a few areas that I got the heat gun closer to to cause "holes." In one such hole you can see where I cracked the Embossing Powder as well!   Today there is no underlying meaning...just a beautiful image and a fun technique! I hope you enjoy!

Be sure to hop to the rest of the Blog Hop Smeared Ink Family!

Delightful Thursday | Pressie Josh Birthday Card

It's Delightful Thursday and the Digital Delights design team is sharing inspiration on the Digital Delights Blog today!

Today I'm coloring the delightful Pressie Josh! I love all of the "Pressie" series of images in the store but Pressie Josh is my favorite to color. Yesterday was my son's birthday and so I made this card for him! I've been trying some new coloring techniques and today you will notice I've gone back to using both my spectrum noir with my BIC Mark-its. For me they produced the perfect greens in the bow and hat and shirt. Thank you for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my card.

Springtime Hugs

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today on the Cheery Lynn Blog I share a spring card complete with garden fence, flowers and a butterfly. I love the A2 stackers and how great they are for making layers on your card. This card uses 4 of the rectangles to create layers....the focal piece that I water-colored is a much larger stamp and I simply cut with an inner rectangle the portion I wanted to show on my card. The mini doily is inked around the edges to enhance the laceyness of the doily. A mini flourish, mini butterfly and tiny flowers complete the look of the card. I'm ready for spring! only four more weeks!

love tag

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today on the Cheery Lynn Blog I am sharing a Valentine tag using the new borders die along with the Lords and Commons doily and the Lattice Heart and Vines. The base is created by die cutting the edge of the die with the Scandinavian border die and adding a bit of the Lords and Commons Doily as a topper to the tag. The lattice dies was cut and hand painted gold on the heart and green on the vines. Daisies were die cut from a book print paper and inked and painted with pink and gold. a bead was added to the center to complete the flower.

The key, lock and "love" were die cut with a neutral card stock and then hand-colored gold with creams. The "love" was added to the bottom of the tag and the key and lock tucked into the flowers.
