If you are looking for my Weekly Challenge with Delightful Challenges, it is
here.
I am pleased to announce that I am trying out for the USArtQuest Design Team which has many amazing products that I have grown up using as a paper artist and crafter. I would love to have the opportunity to share with you all how amazing these products are and the many ways they can be used in your projects. For this project I will in no way touch all of the products in their company, but I will highlight a few that are perfect for adding sparkle and shine to my Resolutions folder.
Because I find that goal and resolution setting is paramount in my life to a successful year, I wanted to create something to hold my goals for 2012 that would be pretty and make me want to reflect on them more! I had created a similar file-folder tag folder on my bi-monthly show leslierahye's crafty gig as a Halloween project and knew it would be a handy way to hold my lists.
For this project you will need:
Manila File folder and Cream Paper to print calender and lined pages on
a vintage looking 2012 calendar
Ranger Distress Walnut Stain
Ranger Walnut Distress Ink
Clear Detail Embossing Powder
VersaMark Watermark Pad
Blue Ocean Folk Art Paint
Electric Blue Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist
BIC Mark-It's in Brown
Redline Tape
Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue
Sakura Hobby Crafts 3D Crystal Lacquer
Random patterned stamps and sayings

On a USTREAM in September, I showed how to fold this great file-folder tag book!
After folding the base for my Resolutions Tag Book, I began decorating my folder by stamping swirls and dots on the folder with VersaMark Watermark pad, and then embossing them with Clear Detail Embossing Powder.
Next I dusted the swirls with Super Bronze and the dots with Super Copper and then wiped off the excess with a tissue. I then melted it into the embossing powder by heating up the embossed areas with the heat tool. Then I began layer misting and ink to create the background below.
I repeated the process on the other side.
With a lettering template, I traced the word "resolutions" onto the "cover' of my folder and then painted out the negative space with Deep Ocean Blue Folk Art paint. I then added the numbers 2012 to the 2nd "o" and outlined with a loose "squiggle" the letters with a brown BIC Mark-Its. The "o" was then coated with Sakura Hobby Crafts 3D Crystal Lacquer to add some shine!
To complete the "back of the folder" I cut apart the months of the calendar from the listed vintage-looking 2012 calendar. I added lined paper beside them that I made using Publisher and printed on cream paper. This will allow me to event plan or to keep up with important birthdays for 2012.
I added a strip of redline tape to the bottom of the folder and tapped on some gilding leaf in bronze to the tape. I then used a dry brush to brush it down on the tape removing any excess with the same brush.
For the "inside" of the folder, I stamped words and phrases that made me remember key ideas while I'm planning my resolutions and goals for the new year. I created a 4×7½" tag with a 65# cardstock which I stamped with Ranger Distress Ink in Walnut Ink. I then misted them with the Tattered Angels mist in a matching color. Next I printed using Publisher the cover page lined sheets with titles for the areas I focus on when goal planning. I also printed extra pages for behind the cover page. I glued them down at the top of the tag using Beacon 3in1 Craft Glue.
The tags will be used to write down my goals and resolutions for those areas of my life. They fit neatly into the pockets on the inside of the folder.
Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my project and that you are inspired to try one of your own! I hope someone in California is WOWed today!
