Festive Friday #1 2♥12 | Thanks SNOW much!

Yes, I just put away the holidays in my house last weekend...it was hectic, it was crazy and i didn't grumble too much! But...I know I need to get started on my cards to have some more for next year. It was so much fun making cards throughout the year and there are so many ideas out there that I have not tried! With the growth of pinterest, I am finding more and more talented card makers out there that inspire my own card making.

This week's card is cased from a Sharon Langford at Designs by Sharon. She used her electronic cutting device to create this super cute snow globe card that I have chosen to instead make using my circle cutter and punches! I added a sentiment to the card with a digi stamp from Digital Delights by Louby Loo. I made him a thank you card for those times during the holidays when you need a thank you! I hope you enjoy looking!

Weekly Challenge| New Release and Pink, Black and Silver

Welcome to the first new release of 2♥12 at Digital Delights by Louby Loo. This Fabulous Fifties set has everyone talking about Grease, the movie!! I LOVE this set because it's the time period during which my house was built. My husband and I will one day bring our kitchen back to the original 50s fun but until that day I will be happy to eat off of my salmon pink and sea foam green dishes and play with Wendy's digis!

As part of my goals for myself--new things to try and to do to broaden my creativity--I decided this year that I wanted to participate in the Ten on Ten Challenge that Rebekah runs on her blog A bit of Sunshine. Crafty Ribbons Blog Hop & Challenge #10 | New Beginnings!!!

Wow, can you believe Christmas is over and we are into January which means it’s time for the sales and Crafty Ribbons started their mega sale on the 3rd January where there are lots of fabulous ribbons at fantastic prices so to celebrate we’re having a blog hop with lots of prizes available. We also have a new challenge this time, Gina is hosting.....

New Beginnings 
[new baby, new job, new home...new life]

We'll draw a random winner for both the blog hop and challenge and we’ll have the top 3 as usual. You can get all the details and lots more ideas from the Design Team over at the main site. I am sharing with you today a Welcome Little One card for the birth of a baby girl. 

I chose this darling girl bear grosgrain with the pink bows and flowers to accent my hybrid card. The card features new papers from AJs Digi Shoppe. I created a layout with small squares of each digital paper on screen and then matted it with a white square and a Pink Rectangle to give the impression of paper piecing. I then also created a separate block with my sentiment that once printed could be attached with foam squares to give the layered effect. 

I finished my card by attaching the ribbon straight across the front with glue. I then created a simple two loop bow being sure to twist the printed grosgrain so that the image stayed on top. I attached the bow with Beacon 3-in-1 Craft Glue and adhered the entire card front to the card base. Thank you for looking!

1st Weekly Challenge of 2♥12 | Have a Heart!

After what seems like a long-winter's nap Delightful Challenges is back for the first challenge of the year! Wendy has designed some amazing stamps for the coming year for Digital Delights by Louby Loo!! For this week we are warming up with fun challenge : Have a Heart! I love all holidays and Valentine's is one of my favorites--so expect lots of love from me for the next 6 weeks! 

Today I am sharing Augustus the Dragon--he is one of my favorite stamps--with the Castle Background and the Time's a Dragon sentiment. I love how he turned out with the new Terri Sproul's Mixers added into my favorite Sakura Crystal Lacquer. The background paper for the castle is actually grey and colored over with the Prismacolor Pencils--I love that the pigment in these pencils really allow the color to layer on top of the paper for a deeper look. I hope you enjoy my card!

For a few years now I have been stalking a challenge that a super mixed media artist  Kate Crane has been hosting on her blog The Kathryn Wheel.
