Gill's Glitter & Bling Blog Hop | Day 1 Glitterific Bangles

Welcome to Gill's Glitter and Bling Blog Hop! You should have hopped here from Debbees CDs blog. If you just happened upon our blog hop you can start from the top of the hop with our hostess Gill at her blog Creations by Gill. I am so tickled that Gill is have a blog hop dedicated to two of my favorite things--Glitter and Bling! It is a good day when I have glitter and bling in my life!
For my first project I decided to make something so that I could carry glitter with me where ever I go! I used my favorite casting products Amazing Clear Cast and Amazing Casting Resin from Amazing Casting Products, a bangle mold and G L I T T E R and bling--you know shiny things!!!
This project is simple to do and has tons of possibilities for other bangles as well. I began by lightly coating my mold with bronze Alumilite Metallic Powder to give my White Casting Resin a base color. I mixed equal parts of the Amazing Casting Resin and stirred until the mixture went from cloudy to clear. I then poured the resin into my coated mold. The Amazing Casting Resin sets up super quick and I was able to remove the bangle from the mold in about 30 minutes. I then coated the bracelet with Sakura Hobby Crafts 3D Crystal Lacquer and sprinkled ultra fine glitter from provocraft all over the lacquer.
Next I mixed equal parts of part A and part B of the clear cast--enough to fill my bangle mold. Next I added in some GLITTER and little bits of blingy plastic hearts from a string of hearts from Crafty Ribbons to the mold!!! I gently swirled it into the mixture after pouring the clear cast into the mold. The directions say to give your casting 24-48 hours to "cure." I've learned that heat helps move the casting curing along.
After unmolding my bangle, I sanded the edge to remove the over seam and wiped it down to remove the dust. I love how glitterific they turned out! I hope you enjoy them!! Thank you for stopping by!!
Don't forget to stop by tomorrow for another sparkly project!!
Your next stop on the hop is Lisa Garrow's Blog!
