May Monthly Smeared Ink Blog Hop | Anything Goes

Good Morning Smeared and Smudged Family! Today I'm participating with the Smeared & Smudged members in ANYTHING GOES blog hop! In the states we are coming up on Memorial Day weekend. Several of our family members have served and we always think of them on this day of remembrance. This time of the year much of our landscape is abloom including the pathways along the railroad tracks...I like to think that the poppies I see blooming each year were among those sewn by returning soldiers passing along those tracks on their way back home. So today I share with you this Poppy ATC as mentally I prepare to remember those who've served so that we may live a life with freedoms.

Thank you for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed my project!
Be sure to hop to the rest of the Blog Hop Smeared Ink Family!

31 Days of Halloween | Day 22

During the month of October I am participating in a month-long blog hop with some amazing artists. Everyday you will find a new Halloween project on all of the blogs listed below. Each project must have stamping on it, be it digi or ink. There are prizes to win, be sure to check out all the rules HERE and information on the daily scavenger hunt is posted there! You must go HERE to find the item/s you are looking for the scavenger hunt.

Welcome to Day 22 of the 31 Days of Halloween hop with SmearedInk.com! Today I'm sharing this quick "Poe" ATC with my raven and the sentiment "nevermore." The pattern paper has a bit of distressing and misting through some Tiny Circles Mesh which is also echoed as the actual mesh under the sentiment. The edges are distressed with a pattern marker, some brown chalk, some brown distress ink and some pen scribbles :) The whole front is then mounted on a piece of Black ATC card stock and the Raven receives a bit of black bling for his eye!

I hope you enjoyed my card! Please come back tomorrow!!

Welcome to Day 15 of the 31 Days of Halloween hop with SmearedInk.com! It's Wednesday and that means ATCs!! I am using one of my favorite old rubber stamps along with my new happy halloween sentiment stamped on a fun background paper and then colored with prismacolor pencils. I love how they provide an almost opaque coverage. I completed the card with doodling of course...it's my happy go to place! I hope you enjoy my project! Please come back tomorrow for more!

Welcome to Day 10 of the 31 Days of Halloween hop with SmearedInk.com! We are almost a third of the way to Halloween and as this is Friday, I am also showcasing a SmearedInk image. I love this little gothic fairy! I've created another ATC [did I mention I love little bits of art?!?]. This time I fussy cut my image out and adhered her to a background that I've inked and doodled on. I colored her with Prisma Color pencils and created a matching text colored with Spectrum Noir. A bit of glitter on the feathers and some white pastel pencil complete the look! I hope you enjoy my project! Please come back tomorrow for more!

Welcome to Day 8 of the 31 Days of Halloween hop with SmearedInk.com!  Today I created an ATC using this great background set that looks like a shelf full of bottles and concoctions! I stamped the image with archival ink and then smeared brown distress ink over the entire image. I hand painted the bottles with crystal lacquer to add some shine. I added an embossed frame with a decorative corner over the top. I lined the edges with a PITT brush pen. I added a small corked bottle of crystals tied with some twine. I love this little ATC! I hope you enjoyed my project! Be sure to check back tomorrow!

GOOD MORNING! This is the 1st day of the Annual Smeared Ink 31 Days of Halloween! I love this hop and I hope you will too. Be sure to check out the links above for how it goes! Be sure to check out the links below to see all of the fabulously spooky art! I like to have a "theme" for my posts each week during the month and I have dedicated Wednesdays to ATCs so we start with this wicked ATC using Chandelier in Cobwebs and the Striped Spider from Viva Las VegaStamps! The cardboard base was covered with a piece of vintage book paper and then stamped using PITT artist pen Big Brush in cold grey. I tangled a bit around the edges using PITT artist pens in various widths and added white chalk pastel along the stamped pieces and tangled border. I finished off the card with the phrase : The cobwebs were hung with care--reminiscent of the line in A Night Before Christmas : " The stockings were hung by the chimney with care...". A spritz of Perfect Pearls Mists in Perfect Pearl was added for some shimmer! I hope you enjoy my ATC! Please join me again tomorrow!

Every Little Thing Wants to be Loved

Hi everyone! I recently joined an Altered Trading Card Swap. ATCs are meant to be traded among artists and that's why they are so fun to make. This little 2½×3½" work of art will be shared with other artists making ATCs along the same theme--this theme was Bees. They also will make a run of cards on this theme and our hostess will sort out the lot and send them to each of us. It's always fun to get back the cards and see everyone's artwork!
I chose to use this quote from The Secret Life of Bees for my ATC. This is part of the Bee Yard Etiquette and while assembling them I became inspired to do a series of Bee ATCs--I will share those with you at a later date!

“I hadn't been out to the hives before, so to start off she gave me a lesson in what she called 'bee yard etiquette'. She reminded me that the world was really one bee yard, and the same rules work fine in both places. Don't be afraid, as no life-loving bee wants to sting you. Still, don't be an idiot; wear long sleeves and pants. Don't swat. Don't even think about swatting. If you feel angry, whistle. Anger agitates while whistling melts a bee's temper. Act like you know what you're doing, even if you don't. Above all, send the bees love. Every little thing wants to be loved.”

My Favorite Things ATC Swap

My Favorite Things Series 1
Happy Sunday everyone! Last month I created these two Altered Trading Cards in series as part of the Unruly Papercrafts March Swap. Altered Trading Cards are little artworks on a 2½×3½" canvas. The theme of this swap was "My Favorite Things."

These cards began as a watercolor paper print of mono prints that I had created on gelli plates. When I'm mono printing, I find that there are some prints that I just LOVE and I will scan them so that I can use them in art in the future. The backgrounds I've used here I have used as paper, as digital buttons for events, and as ATC backgrounds.
My Favorite Things Series 2

Next I heat embossed the cards with some of my favorite Globecraft & Piccolo Craft Emboss Powders. I used adhesive to emboss the edges. Next I sprinkled some emboss powder on the surface of the watercolor ATC and then heat set from below so that the emboss powder looked more random...creating interesting patterning.

Finally I tangled on my ATC. Zentangling and doodling is my happy place and one of my all-time favorite things. I can relax and breathe when I tangle. It seemed appropriate that my two series of Favorite Things ATCs contain tangles!

Each series contained a total of 4 cards and were swapped with friends across the country. It's always fun receiving art from others and ATCs are easy to make and share! I hope you try some of your own!

A Fishy Tale ATC

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today on the Globecraft and Piccolo Blog I am sharing a fun embossed ATC with new release gels and Piccolos and some fun techniques. I hope you enjoy!
I begin by layering and mixing various Emboss Powders on my ATC base--the initial powders were adhered with emboss adhesive but the remaining powders were added while the enamel was hot! I added Mossy Glen and Starry Sky to a base of Mermaid Tears and Aged White. I embossed the funny Bubble background with Mermaid Tears and added it to the background while the enamel was hot~it is basically embedded into the background.

Micro beads were added to a few of the bubbles and held in place with a glob of glossy glastique.

I needed orange enamel gel so I mixed the new pearls together to create orange
I purposely globbed on the orange gel for a special technique that leaves lots of texture.
Once the enamel is dry to the touch I zap it with the heat tool making it bubble and pop! It creates the most fun texture. I used this technique this past Halloween with green to make bubbling potions and creepy backgrounds for cards. In this instance it gives the fish a scaly appearance when Glossy Glastique is added to the top.
note: the gloss and shine of these make photographing difficult and the bubbles appear cloudy despite them being clear.

I hope you enjoy my project!

I hope you enjoyed my project! Thank you for stopping by today!
