Weekly Challenge | Anything But a Card

It's time for a new challenge with Digital Delights by Louby Loo! This week at Delightful Challenges our challenge is Anything But a Card--Love Themed! I decided to create a bookmark for my son to share with his sweetie. I used my favorite Buttons the Clown and colored him in shades of pink and red. I mounted his image onto a folded piece of cardstock [8x3-3/4"] and then added thin magnet sheets cut into strips to the interior. To use the book mark, you place it over the page you are reading and close--the magnet holds your page and keeps the bookmark from slipping out!

A Vintage Time Piece

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today on the Globecraft Piccolo Blog I share necklace project! Globecraft and Piccolo has so many wonderful bezels and charms to alter into wonderful jewelry! The Vintage Clock Necklace set is FANTASTIC! I LOVE how this turned out!!

I began by embossing the clock face and the "dangles" with the Victorian Bronze and the back of the clock with Micro Black. I embossed both sizes of the back of the clock a couple of times--using a tweezers to hold the chipboard while it cooled. Once the pieces were prepped [embossed several times] I adhered the clock face to the clock back with the glossy Glastique. I held my pieces into place with clothespins.
Once dry I filled the face of the timepiece with Instant UV Resin. While you can cure this product in the comforts of your home in the dark using a special UV heat lamp, I tested curing it outside with the sun--it's amazing how quickly this product hardens! It created a nice dome where a dome on the glass of a clock would be. for the remaining clock face, I filled in with a touch of gloss Glastique--leaving a ledge around the rest of the chipboard.

To assemble this piece I used some very small black link chain that would fit through my larger jump rings. I added a dangle to each end of the chain after threading it through it's rings. I like the look of triple jump rings with this piece and repeated it when adding the last piece and the neck chain.

I really love how this piece turned out and will definitely be playing with the UV resin again! Such a fun product!!!  Thank you for stopping by!!

Le Pot de Papillon

Good morning! Today on the Altered Arts Magazine blog I am sharing an altered coaster : Le Pot de Papillonthe butterfly jar! As an artist one of my favorite things to do is to upcycle cardboard--coasters from restaurants are perfect! Many are about the size of a fat book (4×4") and make wonderful substrates for small art.

I covered this coaster with 2 layers of Kraft colored Tissue Stock from Canvas Corp using Nori Perfect Paste as my adhesive. I also used the Nori Perfect Paste to adhere the trimmed "La Fleur" mason jar from the Retro Cafe Art Gallery collage sheet.

I created handmade flowers with the soft subtle Color Wash card stock from Pink Paislee and adhered them to the side of the jar image. I completed the composition by posing mini butterflies in the jar and upon a few flowers. Knotted Wood ink from Prima Marketing Inc. was edged around the coaster to darken the edge a bit.

Kept Under Lock & Key

Happy Wednesday everyone! Globecraft and Piccolo has so many wonderful bezels and charms to alter into wonderful jewelry! I created this piece with the Fancy Square Bezel. It's large size allows for many design options. I created a textured background by building up several layers of Vintage Copper Enamel Powder and while it was still hot I stamped my rubber stamp into the melted enamel. Rubbing the Adhesive Fluid over the rubber before this process keeps the stamp from sticking to the enamel permanently.

Once cooled off I added small flourishes and tiny hearts and a vintage lock to the front to mimic an old lock face like on a trunk. These pieces were previously embossed with Copper Kettle Enamel Powder. They are adhered to the bezel with Glasstique--I hold the pieces into place with clothes pins until they dry. The accents are then coated with glossy Glasstique to add extra shine. Black India Ink was rubbed across the face of the bezel to deepen the color and add a vintage feel to the bezel. The Bezel was edged with a black marker and a layer of Glassitique was smeared across the back to seal the chipboard. Keys were embossed with Vintage Bronze Enamel Powder. Copper jump rings attach the keys to the bezel and a simple leather thong "chain" was constructed to go through the rings.

Steampunk Tag Remake

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today I am going to re-create a steampunk tag. Back in December I was gathering my Cheery Lynn projects together to send over to BJ in preparation for the Craft and Hobby Association Winter Show. I came across the tag below. I love that tag! I created it as part of my application for this design team! Since then Cheery Lynn Designs has released more steampunk inspired dies...and of course I have added them to my collection! So, using the tag below as my inspiration, I have crafted for you a fresh interpretation of this tag.

I love my new tag with all the extra Cheery Lynn goodness!  Thank you for stopping by!!

One Little Word

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today on the Globecraft & Piccolo Craft Blog I share this magnet project! As part of my goal setting for the year, I am a fan of living Ali Edwards' "one little word." This year my word is THRIVE and I've created a little art piece to put on my file cabinet near my work space to remind me each day! I used the frame of the Daisy Floral Accents & Frame set to create my mini framed piece--final dimensions are about 2¾×3¾".

As I am still collecting enamel gels for my stash, I do not have every color yet and so I misted my daisy pieces with white Dylusions spray mist to give a matte black finish to the chipboard pieces. I Then covered the daisy heads in Glastique Gloss and set aside to dry. The stems and accent pieces were coated with the Leafy Green enamel.

On the frame I applied a mixed layer of Royal Sterling and Enchanted Aubergine powders to the chipboard prepped with  Enamel Powder Adhesive Fluid and heat set. Next I reapplied the Adhesive Fluid and mixed in some aged white and Aubergine and heat set. For the background, I cut a piece of cardboard to match the frame and built up two layers of Mermaid Tears EP and while my enamel was still hot, I stamped a text script stamp--prepped with Adhesive Fluid--into the enamel to leave an imprint. I used Glastique to adhere the frame to the background and coated the frame with Matte Glastique.

Once my accents were dry I layered a few on my frame using Glastique as adhesive. I added them to my frame and background. Canvas stickers spelled out the word THRIVE and a touch of Glastique helped to hold them into place. I added a magnet to the back with some E6000 for extra sturdiness.

I hope you enjoyed my project! Thank you for stopping by today!

Fancy Flap Cards are Easy with Cheery Lynn Designs

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today on the Cheery Lynn Blog I show you this simple technique to create a Fancy Flap on your card. The original intent of the Angel Wings that come with Cheery Lynn Dies was to create a neutral background upon which to adhere the intricate doilies to help them stand out! The fact that they are HALF the size of the doily make them perfect for this technique to achieve the fancy flap look!

Cheery Lynn Dies used

To create the base of the card cut an 8½×5½" piece of card stock. Fold in half and crease. The gently fold again the front and lightly crease to just mark a crease on the edges. Line up the angel wing die on the light crease. Run through your die cut machine. fold cut back to main fold of card...you can either glue down or leave loose. I then stamped the background with a script stamp for this card.

I then glued in my doily, lining it up with the angle cut. I then grouped the new Bow Die with leaves and flowers to create a focal cluster. I added the music in the background to contrast with the stamped script. I hope you enjoy creating fancy flap cards using the angel wings that come with your doilies!

A Steampunk Valentine

Happy Wednesday everyone! Today I share my very first post as a designer for Globecraft & Picolo. For my project today I made a pendant with the Skinny Rectangle Bezel by layering on Steampunk gears and Hearts, keys and embellishments! I love how it turned out! It's it complemented by the Silk Cord Necklace that can also be found in the online shop!

I began  by dabbing Enamel Powder Adhesive Fluid onto my bezel chipboard shape and embossing it with Mermaid Tears EP. I then did two layers of Vintage Copper on the gears and Copper Kettle on the key and swirl. The heart was coated with the 3D enamels in Dark Red and Pink Rose. The gears were then coated with the matte finish Glastique and the rest of the pieces were coated with the gloss finish Glastique. After they dried a generous coat of the gloss Glasstique was applied to the Bezel and to backs of embellishments to adhere the pendant together! The key was dangled from the heart with copper jump rings. The entire pendant was added to the Silk Cord Necklace by a copper jump ring as well.
